Happy (late) New Year!

My life has been in a whirl since mid November until now with 2 holiday concerts, 2 holiday art shows that I had to set up & tear down, 2 holidays with family coming and going, taking care of my on-line businesses at Artfire and Etsy, producing handmade gifts for my loved ones and trying to finish new art for the next holiday: Valentine's Day.

Now I have a chance to breathe. In my usual tradition, I recount highlights from the previous year, so here it goes:

In February, I produced a number of custom wedding and anniversary prints. This is a relatively new venture. You can see the start of this new enterprise here. We also performed at The Dance Flurry Festival on February 14.

In March, Saratoga Faire (the band I perform with) was interviewed and our entire CD, "Saratoga Romance" was aired. This took place on Sunday, March 7, 2010 on Community Cafe Hour  (101.7 in northeast NY, USA).

In April, Saratoga Faire's  CD, "Saratoga Romance" was featured on IRFT Celtic Radio. It was aired on Monday, April 5, 2010. The station played the CD in its entirety and we made some sales afterwards.

In July, my art prints were accepted into Valley Artisans Market, an art/gift gallery in Cambridge, NY. Previously I was only selling greeting cards and pottery out of this shop. For the prints, I rotated themes, starting with trees, then going to an autumn theme and finally to a display of angels and doves for the holidays. Jim and I also performed some small restaurant and coffeehouse concerts during the month.

In August, I began to sell hand painted and printed teeshirts and totes in Cambridge, NY for Valley Artisans Market as an initiative to have more items for sale that were "buy and carry out". Many of my Celtic inspired designs were featured for this sale. It was so successful that the membership decided to make it a permanent fixture in November of this same year.

In September, as part of a Labor Day celebration, we (Saratoga Faire) performed for a folk festival in Bolton Landing. Here is the poster from the concert at Bolton Landing (click on thumbnail for a larger view):

Also in September, I joined the Etsy Visual Art Team (VAST team for short). Their on-line gallery is located here. I have been regularly posting on their blog since my acceptance to the team. I was also included in more Etsy treasuries than any other month before or since.

In October, one of my art pieces was accepted into a juried art exhibit called Black and White at Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Center. The exhibit ran from October 1 - 30. Here is the postcard for the show (click on thumbnail for a larger view) :

A photo of my piece was taken for the Lower Adirondack Regional Arts newsletter about the show (click on thumbnail for a larger view):

On October 1, I started another on-line shop on Artfire.com. I have been working on trying to stock up my shop since then and am still in the midst of adding items on a daily basis or when I can. My plan is to have a greater number of works on my Artfire site and rotating seasonal items at Etsy.

In November I was selling in two holiday art shows, one at Lower Adirondack Regional Arts Center and the other at Valley Artisans Market. My card "Pumpkin Owls" was also featured in this blog from the blog, "My Barn Owl, for all Owl Lovers" in November.

And December was mainly about a holiday concert at Troy Music Hall (a large concert venue) as well as a small holiday concert for the Saratoga Springs Victorian Streetwalk. The concert at Troy Music Hall was videotaped and we hope to have some footage of the concert up soon on You Tube.

Carrying on the tradition from last year, some great new artist finds for me last year included:
